The Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute provides outstanding training and educational programs in adult and child/adolescent psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. Our innovative educational approaches like a fully integrated child and adult curriculum, and our Early Admissions program, have become national models for psychoanalytic education. We are now also training national and international Distance Candidates who want the excellence of MPI’s high educational standards. Our graduate psychoanalysts and are devoted educators for psychoanalysts and psychotherapists worldwide. Many graduate analysts are well-known authors on clinical issues. The Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute is a premier site for training psychoanalysts and psychotherapists, and for offering continuing education for mental health professionals in the psychoanalytic modality.
We have several training programs to suit different interests and levels of clinical experience. From our most in-depth, extensive program of training to become a psychoanalyst, to in-depth training in psychotherapeutic skills, to briefer seminars for practicing clinicians wishing to pursue continuing education with CME/CE credit.
Our faculty are accomplished psychoanalyst clinician-educators, with extensive experience in psychoanalysis and mental health. We have over 90 faculty, comprising a wide range of clinical expertise. Many faculty have published significant contributions advancing our understanding of clinical, theoretical, research, and educational issues.
Our faculty are dedicated educators for psychoanalysts and psychotherapists on the local, national, and international level.
Embracing Michigan Roots
MPI has proudly served the communities of southeast Michigan since 1963. We maintain our administrative office in Farmington Hills and offer our seminars in both Farmington Hills and Ann Arbor. Our MPI Clinical Services in both locations provides evaluation, treatment, and referrals for adults, adolescents and children. Many of our faculty also teach and supervise clinical work in the major regional psychiatry residency and psychology training programs, taking psychoanalytic expertise beyond the classroom and into the real world.
